I am so Tired, I Quit!

I have had it! I can’t stand it any more! I have tried and tried without success. I just want to quit! Have you ever said this statement or heard one of your children say it? We all get tired of our effort being put in to accomplish something without success or reward. There is that point where physical and emotional fatigue sets in and there is the feeling of being too tired to go on.
This kind of thing takes place in the young and the old. A college student who can’t juggle work and studies, individuals on the job who work very hard and are just not able to get ahead. In a relationship one tries to do what is right and there is no response and seemingly no success. I am tired of trying! What’s the use? I have really had it! I quit!
Do we get to a point where we should stop trying because we are so tired of making the effort that we rationalize that quitting is right? Does a husband give up doing what is right because his wife does not respond or a wife because her husband does not respond?
The Apostle Paul writes in Galatians 6:9-10; “Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we don’t grow weary. So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people…”
If we, as Christians, truly believe in the commandments of God and in His promises as given in His Word, there is good reason, if we are doing right or good, to hang in there and to continue on.
When Paul wrote, “Don’t get weary,” he didn’t mean that we would never get physically tired, but not to get weary of doing what is right. If it is good or right to do, don’t get tired of doing it.
There are still many good people in our world that do what is right when some catastrophic thing happens, especially when people have need of food, water, and shelter. I have watched this happen in our world of motorcycle riders. If a rider breaks down on the side of the road it will not be long before another rider or a group of riders stop to lend a hand. This is a wonderful thing to watch.
If only we would understand that God didn’t grow weary with mankind and made a way for us to be with Him in heaven. That way is through Jesus Christ. “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9.
I pray that during this time of quarantine you are not giving up but that you are keeping on, keeping on. We all must press on with the strength of the Lord and like the Apostle Paul wrote in Philippians 4:13; “I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.
I am praying for you as always and again, please stay safe and healthy.
