Obituary
Jay Edward Mounier, 77, of Franklinville passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at home. He was born in South Hampton, Long Island, NY to the late J Edward and Edith (Stakey) Mounier. Jay graduated from Delsea High School and Lehigh University, where he earned a degree in mechanical engineering. He worked for Union Carbide Corporation as an industrial troubleshooter for several years. He worked in such diverse locations as West Virginia, Quebec (Canada), Puerto Rico, and Brazil. Upon returning to the family homestead, he engaged in farming for many years. Jay was an active member at Faith Bible Church and served as chairman on the Franklin Township Planning Board, as well as the Environmental Commission. He had a lengthy tenure as a NJ Pinelands Commissioner. Jay was a member of the SJ Beekeepers Club and the NJ Fur Harvesters Organization. An avid outdoorsman, Jay enjoyed hunting, and trapping, in addition to his interest in astronomy and beekeeping. He read widely and had encyclopedic knowledge of many subjects. He was a valuable source of information for those with technical problems.
He is survived by his sister Alice Mounier-Penny, brother R Alan Mounier (Jerilyn), nephew Edward Penny, nieces Christina Penny, Sara Brummer (Jeffrey), Marianna Tasso (Andrew), Jessica Spence (Royall IV).
