Fresh Start Sunday

The goal of our salvation is to be made complete into the image of Christ. This is a work that God accomplishes through the power of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God.

Becoming a mature Christian (growing in the likeness of Jesus) occurs through the process called discipleship. This is more than a new believer Bible study. Discipleship begins the moment we trust Christ and continues until we are made complete in Him. Every follower of Jesus is a disciple. Growing more like Jesus ought to occur throughout the life of every disciple.

The task of making disciples is focus of the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20). It begins with Seeking the Lost ("go into the world"). It Includes giving a clear presentation of the Gospel, validated by a godly Christian witness. This point is expressed as Jesus commanded that we "baptize" these new disciples. Baptism is a picutre of the point of decision when someone trusts Christ. The third phase of discipleship is expressed in Christ's command to "teach them to obey everything that I have commanded you." This step is the training or maturing which all believers are to experience. Finally, in order for this process to continue, we must send and be sent "into all the world."

These four truths can be expressed in the four following words:
SEEK
WIN
TRIAN
SEND

This sermon is a summary of these four points, and a practical application of how they work here at Faith Bible Church.
